The Arewa Youth Integrity Forum (AYIF) criticises former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for calling for the suspension of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over an alleged N400 billion bribery scandal. Atiku, through his media aides, says the chief of staff should be suspended to allow an independent investigation into the allegations and related claims. AYIF, in a statement by its national president, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, rejects Atiku’s intervention and argues that he lacks the moral standing to accuse a sitting official. The forum says allegations against currently serving officials should not be used as political leverage, and it labels Atiku’s stance as selective outrage and political mischief ahead of the 2027 election. AYIF also points to what it describes as Atiku’s past controversies, including graft-related accusations during his time as vice president and later allegations involving international corruption probes and business dealings. Separate reports add that Atiku’s aide, Paul Ibe, urges Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila and other figures allegedly connected to what is described as a “fake agency probe” involving the PFIPC. The underlying allegation remains that Gbajabiamila is linked to bribery claims, while the responses centre on calls for investigation and disputes over who can make the demand.
