The Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 is scheduled to come into force on July 1, 2025. The central government says preparations for implementation are complete, with administrative, financial and technical arrangements made to support a smooth rollout.

Under the new framework, eligible rural households are guaranteed wage employment for up to 125 days, which is higher than the 100 days covered under the existing rural employment programme. The Ministry of Rural Development also indicates that an interim allocation of Rs 95,692.31 crore has been made to states and Union Territories to help ensure timely wage payments and uninterrupted work.

The government’s stated priority is that no eligible rural worker is left without work for even a single day. Reporting also notes that the scheme includes revised state-wise wage rates, with maximum wages cited up to ₹327.4 per day, compared with ₹298.8 per day under MGNREGA, reflecting increases in multiple states.
