Disney has ordered a pilot for a live-action television adaptation of Max Brallier’s “Last Kids on Earth” book series, according to reports from Variety and Deadline. The pilot order means Disney will produce an episode first, then decide whether to advance the project to a full season.
The series is developed for Disney+ and Disney Channel. The adaptation is described as a return of the property to television in a live-action format, building on the book series’ existing fan base.
Variety and Deadline also credit the show’s development team, naming Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux from “Gotham Knights” as co-creators, along with Kevin Tancharoen, who has worked on productions including “The Book of Boba Fett.”
The sources do not describe further casting, release timing, or production details beyond the pilot commitment and the intended platforms. If the pilot performs well internally, Disney could move ahead with additional episodes, but no full-series order is reported at this stage.
