Bengaluru police register an FIR against five women employed as caregivers at a daycare centre within an IT company campus in Brookefield, according to multiple reports. The case is linked to videos that reportedly show toddlers aged about two to three being abused. The allegations come after WhatsApp videos are circulated and a complaint is filed through the District Child Protection Unit/Child Helpline. Authorities say the complaint is based on videos received by a legal-cum-probation officer and that the matter is connected to the creche used by employees to leave their children while they work.
Police report that caregivers are accused of physically assaulting and intimidating children who cry or make disturbances. The allegations described in the complaints include forcing toddlers into a front-loading washing machine, making them sit on a toilet/commode, spraying water into their mouths using a jet, locking them inside bathrooms, and threatening them to keep quiet. Police state they are questioning the accused, verifying the authenticity and timing of the videos, and determining whether additional incidents involving other children occurred. No arrests are reported in some accounts, while one report says the five are taken in for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
