Akiel Flemming, 35, who was serving a 16-year prison sentence for raping and sexually assaulting female students during Freshers’ Week at the University of Wolverhampton, has died in custody. Multiple reports state he is believed to have died at HMP Wakefield, a prison also associated with the killing of Ian Watkins, known as “Monster Mansion.”
According to the reports, Flemming’s conviction related to attacks carried out in university accommodation. One outlet says Flemming attacked three people in university halls, while another focuses on the nature of the sexual assaults on students during the Freshers’ Week period. Both accounts identify the same individual and the same length of sentence.
Both sources attribute the death to events occurring while Flemming was held at HMP Wakefield, the same facility where Ian Watkins was killed. The reports do not provide details on the cause or circumstances of Flemming’s death.
