Capgemini temporarily closes its daycare facility at its Bengaluru campus after videos allegedly show toddlers being abused by caregivers. Across reports, authorities describe allegations that children, aged around two to three, are mistreated for “crying” or similar reasons. The incidents cited include placing toddlers inside a washing machine, locking them in bathrooms/toilets, and spraying water into children’s mouths with a toilet jet.
A complaint is filed with police after disturbing footage comes to light, and an FIR is registered against five women daycare employees/workers. Police book the accused under relevant provisions including the Juvenile Justice Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and investigations are underway, including reviewing CCTV footage and questioning the accused.
Capgemini states it is cooperating with authorities and flags the need for action against staff, while parents are contacted as part of the inquiry. In parallel, child-rights authorities are reported to intervene: the NCPCR dispatches a fact-finding team, and Karnataka’s child-rights commission also conducts an inquiry.
