Senate President Godswill Akpabio says he is surprised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still active and has urged FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to “let the party die.” Akpabio made the remarks on Wednesday during the commissioning of a road project in the Gaduwa District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to reports, he reacted to the emergence of a PDP candidate in a recent election, saying he “didn’t know” PDP still existed and suggesting that those associated with the party should stop “confusing” members of the APC and the public.
Akpabio also stated that he would not discuss PDP matters, adding that if a party has “died,” it should be allowed to remain inactive. In the same address, he praised Wike for his work as FCT minister, describing his performance as impactful and contrasting it with what he said were less effective predecessors. The statements are framed as political commentary on party status rather than specific policy actions.
