MGM+ is ending the crime drama “Godfather of Harlem” with a two-hour series finale rather than a fifth season. Multiple outlets report the decision to wrap up the show’s four-season run with a final event that provides a conclusion to the story centered on 1960s Harlem gangster Bumpy Johnson, played by Forest Whitaker.

The series’ most recent season, Season 4, premiered April 13, 2025, and concluded June 22, 2025. After that season’s finale, MGM+ will now deliver the concluding two-hour installment, according to the reports. Deadline describes the order as a two-hour series finale that “wraps” the four-season saga, while TVLine similarly says the series will not return for a Season 5 and instead will end with the extended finale.

The official logline for Season 4 characterizes Bumpy Johnson as continuing a “bloody war for control of Harlem,” setting the stage for the show’s final chapter. All reports agree on the same basic timeline: the show concludes with a two-hour finale following the end of Season 4.
