Maruti Suzuki inaugurates its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana as part of its expanding production network. Reports say the plant is dedicated jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi through video conferencing during the India–Japan Joint Economic Forum in New Delhi. The Hindu and Times of India also note the inauguration is virtual, with Modi describing India’s growing role in Suzuki’s global output. The Kharkhoda complex is described as a large integrated manufacturing site at IMT Kharkhoda, alongside a supplier park, built on an “Smart Factory” concept and intended to use Industry 5.0 technologies to support safety, quality and productivity.
According to Times of India and Free Press Journal, the facility begins operations with an annual production capacity of about 5 lakh vehicles, with plans to raise it to 10 lakh in a subsequent phase. Free Press Journal also cites an investment of around Rs 35,000 crore and expects the plant to create more than 21,000 jobs upon completion. Times of India adds that Maruti Suzuki’s overall manufacturing capacity is expected to increase from 2.65 million units to about 2.9 million units in FY2026–27 after additional capacity comes online at Hansalpur.
