A passenger bus travelling to Peshawar crashes into a ravine after leaving the Dana Sar area of Balochistan’s Sherani district and crossing into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, with official reports placing the death toll between at least 24 and about 40 people. Sherani Deputy Commissioner Wali Khan Kakar confirms the location and says rescue teams and ambulances reached the site immediately. Later reporting cites a statement by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti’s media aide, Shahid Rind, saying initial figures are 40 killed and eight injured. The injured are reportedly taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Zhob. Rescue and emergency teams from both provinces respond, including Zhob emergency services and KP Rescue 1122, which states its personnel reach the crash site soon after receiving information and that rescue efforts are ongoing. Sources also differ on the number of people onboard: one account says the bus left Quetta with 36 passengers but more people boarded from another bus that had broken down mid-route, while another statement says 48 passengers were aboard. Authorities say the incident is under investigation.
