The African Democratic Congress (ADC) calls on President Bola Tinubu to set up an independent Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) controversy. The party says the dispute raises questions about governance, accountability, and the integrity of public institutions. ADC points to the presidency’s June position that the PFIPC does not exist under the current administration, including a denial reported by the chief of staff’s office. It also cites allegations by a PFIPC convenor, Adeniyi Adeyemi, who questions how PFIPC appears in budget documents and claims wrongdoing by government officials, including a reported bribery allegation. Separately, the presidency later accused Adeyemi of forging an appointment letter and presenting himself as a presidential appointee. The ADC says the investigation should cover alleged roles involving multiple public offices and agencies and should have powers to summon witnesses and obtain documents. It also urges that the inquiry examine whether PFIPC-related actions were enabled through negligence, misconduct, abuse of office, or criminal conduct.
