A pilot is suing Marriott International, alleging a Denver-area hotel affiliated with the company failed to respond adequately after he woke up to a swarm of bats in his room, including bites, according to the lawsuit. The pilot says he was treated for possible rabies exposure after the incident and has sought damages related to medical care. The complaint contends that the hotel did not offer him a new room or otherwise promptly address the situation after he reported the bat swarm. The New York Times and One Mile at a Time both describe the case as involving a pilot who stayed at a Marriott-affiliated property and reportedly spent more than $100,000 on rabies shots. The lawsuit also claims Marriott bears responsibility for how the hotel handled the incident, including the alleged lack of accommodation during and after the exposure risk. Marriott has not been described in the reports as admitting wrongdoing. The dispute is currently at the lawsuit stage.
