The Oyo State Police Command says it arrests 11 students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, for alleged cultism linked to the Eiye confraternity. Multiple outlets report that the police act on “credible intelligence” and deploy operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit to locations around the Under-G, Yuako and Adenike areas, where the suspects allegedly converge to perfect plans for coordinated attacks within the university community.

Police say the operation leads to the recovery of firearms and other weapons, along with ammunition. Reported items include locally fabricated cut-to-size pistols, live cartridges and an expended cartridge, as well as weapons such as cut-to-size axes and a dagger knife, and a cult hooded cap. Authorities add that the planned attacks are foiled before execution and that the suspects are taken into custody.

Some reports further state that the suspects confess to membership of the group and that preliminary investigations link them to cult-related criminal activities, including murder. The police also say all 11 suspects are LAUTECH students, and investigations continue.
