Authorities in Nagpur book Rapido app founders on a complaint from the Regional Transport Office (RTO), alleging they operate bike taxi services without the required government permission. According to an official, a case is registered at Sitabuldi police station against Rishikesh S R, Pavan Guntupalli, and Aravind Sanka, founders of Roopen Transportation Services Private Limited, which runs the Rapido app. The complaint is lodged by RTO Motor Vehicle Inspector Vishal Madhukarrao Bhovte on behalf of the state government. The RTO conducted a special drive against illegal passenger transport on June 23. During the drive, a rider was booked through the Rapido app for a ride from Ravi Bhavan to Priyadarshini Colony for ₹22. The bike involved, identified as MH-31/GC-0850, reached the pickup point and was later brought to the RTO office for inspection. The officials allege that the private two-wheeler was being used as a bike taxi without the necessary authorisation, which they say violates applicable transport rules and raises concerns about compliance with passenger safety requirements.
