The India Meteorological Department (IMD) continues to issue a Red Alert for heavy rainfall in Mumbai and adjoining areas of coastal Maharashtra. The IMD’s Regional Meteorological Department (RMD), Mumbai, maintains the Red Alert for July 4 and extends it through July 5 and 6 for multiple coastal districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
Reports indicate that heavy rain persists in Mumbai and Thane and affects parts of coastal Maharashtra. In response to the weather warning, local authorities take precautionary measures in affected areas. Some schools and colleges are closed in parts of Thane and Palghar. Emergency helplines are also activated to assist residents during the period of expected extreme rainfall.
Across the reporting, the common focus remains on the ongoing rainfall conditions and the sustained IMD warning for the coastal districts over the three-day window. Authorities continue to urge preparedness as the Red Alert remains in effect from July 4 to July 6.
