The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Abuja Region announces a planned preventive maintenance outage at the Katampe 132/33kV Transmission Substation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Multiple reports state the maintenance is scheduled for Saturday, 4 July 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, is cited as issuing the notice in Abuja. The stated purpose is to enable TCN’s maintenance engineers to carry out routine preventive work on equipment at the substation, including the 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer (TR1), its auxiliaries, and associated switchgear.

As a result of the outage, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to distribute bulk power to customers in parts of several communities around Abuja, including Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado Fish Market, Idu-Karmo and nearby areas. TCN reports express regret for any inconvenience the outage may cause, while emphasizing that such maintenance is intended to help ensure reliable power supply.
