A BMTC electric bus crashes into the rear of a stationary Vayu Vajra bus at the KR Circle traffic signal in Bengaluru on Saturday morning, injuring several passengers. Police say the crash occurs at around 8 a.m., when the airconditioned Vayu Vajra bus is waiting at a red light. The BMTC bus rams into the back of the stopped vehicle, and the impact leaves multiple people hurt.
The Free Press Journal reports that another BMTC bus travelling behind also crashes into the stationary vehicle, damaging the front portion of the moving bus and the rear of the Vayu Vajra bus. The report adds that the driver of the bus that hit the Vayu Vajra bus sustains severe head injuries and is taken to hospital. A woman passenger is trapped in the wreckage for about an hour before fire and emergency personnel extract her.
According to The Hindu, a total of five people are injured in the incident. After the crash, police administer first aid to those hurt, transport them to hospital, and clear the scene. Traffic disruption is reported around KR Circle, and police continue to investigate the cause of the accident, including the sequence involving the vehicles at the signal.
