A domestic dispute in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district turns deadly after a man is allegedly set ablaze by his brother-in-law. Police say Lovepreet Singh, from Lopoke village in Amritsar district, goes to his in-laws’ home in Sangha village to persuade his estranged wife, Sandeep Kaur, to return. Multiple reports cite CCTV footage showing an argument and a physical scuffle between Lovepreet and his brother-in-law, identified as Sajan Singh. The footage then shows a flammable liquid—described as petrol—being poured on Lovepreet and ignited. Lovepreet suffers severe burns and dies shortly after the attack. His sister-in-law, Gurjeet Kaur, also catches fire while attempting to rescue him and later dies of burn injuries. Sources add that Sajan Singh also sustains burn injuries and is rescued by people at the scene. Investigators register a murder case and arrest the accused. Reports also indicate that Sandeep Kaur is detained/arrested in connection with the case. The incident reportedly occurred on June 13, while the CCTV surfaced later, and authorities continue their investigation.
