Siya Goyal, an accused in the Pune-based businessman and fiancé Ketan Agarwal murder case, becomes the subject of controversy after a video of her appearing to raise her middle finger while being escorted by police to her residence and back goes viral. The incident occurs during an investigation in Pune’s Market Yard area, where police conduct a search and gather evidence before escorting her back to a police vehicle. As journalists surround the area, the clip is widely shared on social media and draws criticism.

Goyal’s father, Praveen Goyal, denies that the gesture was intentional or directed at media personnel. He says Goyal injured her hand when the door of the police vehicle accidentally slammed on her finger while she was getting inside, and that the raised finger was a reaction to the injury rather than an obscene gesture.

Separately, the underlying case remains under investigation. Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are accused of murdering Agarwal by allegedly pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Both are reported to be in 14-day judicial custody following a court ruling, while police and prosecutors cite ongoing evidence collection, including digital material. Allegations have not yet been tested in court.
