Human rights lawyer Femi Falana calls on President Bola Tinubu to ask Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to temporarily step aside to allow an independent investigation into an alleged fraud scandal involving the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and its self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi. Falana’s comments follow Gbajabiamila’s denial of any connection to Adeyemi. Sources report that Gbajabiamila says he petitioned security agencies in October 2025 after forged appointment letters were surfaced.
Adeyemi, however, is said to maintain that Gbajabiamila issued him an appointment letter. He has demanded an independent panel to clear his name and is described as facing trial for forgery, impersonation, and fraud. Falana also questions how an agency “not created by law” allegedly appears in national budget processes, secures office space at the Federal Secretariat, opens Central Bank of Nigeria accounts, and receives staff postings from the Head of Service.
Both outlets report Falana cites concerns including a claim of ₦24 billion being budgeted for the PFIPC, and he argues that the National Assembly must also explain its role in appropriations.
