Mumbai’s Crime Branch suspends the licences of 11 orchestra bars for 30 days after raids that allegedly found violations of Public Entertainment Licence conditions and conduct described as obscene. According to the reports, authorities accused several bars of operating in a manner inconsistent with their permitted setup, including alleged behaviour by women singers who were reportedly found wearing revealing clothing and making obscene gestures while interacting closely with customers. The police also allege they found measures used to conceal performers during raids, including secret compartments, concealed passages, and underground hideouts.

The suspended establishments named across outlets include Senorita, Sapphire, Sunshine Punjab, Raj Palace, and Blue Diamond in Girgaum; Commando, Urvashi, and Sai Prasad in Andheri; Vilas Lunch Home in Dahisar; and Chiranjeevi and Swagatam in Malad. The police say they are monitoring other suspected orchestra bars, while authorities warn of stricter action if further licence violations are detected. The action follows the state government’s broader stance against obscenity in such venues during the legislative session, as described in the reporting.
