An Amotekun Corps operative, Abdulafeez Alabi, is arrested following an incident in which a man is reportedly shot during an attempted arrest in the Saki area of Oyo State. Multiple reports cite police sources and a counter-insurgency publication, stating the shooting occurred at about 7pm on Thursday at Ayemojuba Kosigi village, via Saki. According to the accounts, the incident follows a violent altercation involving two men of Fulani extraction, reported to include a cutlass fight. The reports say Alabi allegedly discharged his firearm accidentally while trying to arrest the two men, fatally injuring one person. The victim reportedly dies at the scene. The incident is said to be reported to the Saki police division on Friday by Abdullahi Dogo, chairman of the Miyetti Allah Fulani association in Saki. Investigators also mention that a locally fabricated single-barrel gun and an expended cartridge are recovered from the scene. Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the arrest of the operative.
