Police in Maharashtra say a man allegedly created a fake profile on a matrimonial website, posing as a millionaire businessman, and used it to befriend and sexually assault a woman while also defrauding her. According to the reports, the accused, who is from Nandurbar, targets a divorced woman and promises marriage while gaining her trust. Police allege that he repeatedly rapes her and also dupes her out of ₹41.25 lakh. Authorities further allege that he forges documents to sell one of the woman’s cars and takes another vehicle. NDTV and Times of India both report that the case involves a fraudulent “millionaire” identity on the matrimonial platform, allegations of rape, and the money loss of a little over ₹41 lakh. The accused is booked by police, and the matter is under investigation as authorities work to verify the documents and transactions tied to the alleged fraud and vehicle sales.
