French woman critically ill with hantavirus after cruise ship outbreak; contacts quarantined

At least one person has tested positive for hantavirus here in France and is currently in intensive care. French authorities are also monitoring four others who were onboard the MV Hondius, the cruise ship at the epicenter of the outbreak. They've also tracked 22 contact cases who've shown no signs of illness.

The number of confirmed hantavirus cases from the Hondius cruise ship outbreak stands at eleven, three of whom have died. In France, a woman who tested positive remains in hospital in critical condition… while twenty two close contacts are being monitored and have so far tested negative. A French woman repatriated from a cruise ship struck by hantavirus was Tuesday in intensive care on a ventilator battling a severe case of the rare disease, a doctor said. The woman, one of five French passengers flown back from the MV Hondius and placed in isolation in Paris, started to feel very unwell on Sunday night and tested positive.
