A Chinese tea chain, Molly Tea, is ordered to pay Louis Vuitton damages for trademark infringement tied to the unauthorised use of a logo. According to reports, the dispute concerns a logo design described as similar to Louis Vuitton’s four-petalled floral monogram. The rulings set the damages amount at about US$1.5 million, which one report also places at 10.3 million yuan (equivalent to 50 million baht), indicating the same compensation figure reported in different currencies. Molly Tea, based in Shenzhen, says it intends to appeal the decision. The reports do not indicate changes to the damages pending the appeal, nor do they provide details on the court’s reasoning beyond the finding of infringement related to the logo similarity. The case highlights an ongoing enforcement approach by luxury brands targeting perceived misuse of protected trademarks and monogram designs. The company’s response centers on pursuing further review through the appeals process.
