Anambra State’s Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) carries out a raid in Awka, the state capital, destroying illicit drugs valued at ₦50 million and arresting suspects linked to the illegal trade. According to reports, the squad conducts operations across multiple locations on Saturday as part of its anti-illicit-drug enforcement efforts and “zero-tolerance” posture. SASA officials state that the seized substances are destroyed following the raids. The Managing Director of SASA, Monday Nwokoye, is cited as speaking during the operation, describing the outcome of the crackdown and the handling of those arrested. The suspects arrested in connection with the drug activities are said to be handed over to federal law-enforcement officers, including officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for further action. The reports present the operation as part of an ongoing security and compliance push in the state, with SASA working to remove illicit drugs from circulation and prosecute individuals involved.
