India hosts the BRICS Women Working Group (WWG) meeting in Kochi, Kerala, on 6–7 July 2026, under India’s BRICS chairship, according to an official statement cited by sources. The meeting is described as preparatory for the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting scheduled for 8–9 July. Senior government officials from BRICS member countries are expected to meet to discuss women’s empowerment and women-led development across multiple sectors and to advance cooperation on shared priorities. One source says the WWG meeting follows three earlier virtual preparatory meetings that help member countries build discussions and seek consensus before the in-person sessions in Kochi. Additional BRICS women-track meetings are also scheduled around the same period, including a “women’s track” gathering and a meeting of BRICS ministers focused on women’s development.

The sources also outline BRICS women-track priorities under India’s chairship theme, including women in governance and leadership, women’s digital and financial inclusion, women’s entrepreneurship and skill development, and women’s role in climate action, food security and nutrition.
