Nathan Fitzgerald, a 27-year-old high school teacher who plays for Epping Football Netball Club, is receiving end-of-life care after suffering critical head injuries during an Australian rules football match in Lalor, in Melbourne’s north. Multiple outlets report that Fitzgerald collided with a teammate during a reserves game on Saturday, 4 July, and fell, hitting his head on a covered cricket pitch area. He was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in critical condition.
