The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) asks Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, to explain a ₦1.3 billion allocation included in the 2026 budget for the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). SERAP says the allocation totals ₦1,302,978,784 and describes the council as “fictitious,” urging the officials to disclose certified copies of documents connected to the consideration and approval of the funding.
SERAP’s request is framed as an urgent disclosure demand, and the group indicates it may pursue legal action if the lawmakers do not provide the information. The report also notes that the challenge centres on how the funding was processed within the budget cycle and whether the PFIPC entity is properly constituted and documented.
Akpabio and Abbas are named directly as the parties SERAP believes can provide the relevant legislative records, including approval and related documentation.
