Super Typhoon Bavi is moving toward the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and may enter it between Tuesday night and early Wednesday, according to the Philippine weather bureau Pagasa. Pagasa issues advisories noting that Bavi remains outside the PAR in the early hours of the week, but its forecast track keeps it on course to enter by Wednesday morning. Once inside the PAR, the cyclone will be given the local name “Inday.” Reports cite Pagasa statements that the chances of direct landfall over Luzon remain low, though the system’s approach can still affect weather conditions. As Bavi nears the country, Pagasa also warns that it can draw in the enhanced southwest monsoon (“habagat”), which may bring heavy rains to parts of the northern and western Philippines over the coming days. Pagasa further indicates that some areas in Northern Luzon could experience tropical cyclone wind signals as early as Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, depending on the cyclone’s movement and direction. The situation is monitored through successive track updates and public weather advisories.
