Raymond Limited on Monday announced the appointment of Bhanu Prakash Srivastava as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Defence, as the company seeks to expand its defence and aerospace-related capabilities. In an exchange filing, Raymond said Srivastava will lead the defence business, including setting its strategic vision, operational roadmap and growth agenda, alongside plans to invest in advanced capabilities. The company said Srivastava is a mechanical engineering graduate from IIT (BHU), Varanasi, and brings nearly four decades of experience.

Sources report that Srivastava has worked for around 40 years at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in leadership roles covering defence technologies, programme execution and institution building. Raymond said his BEL tenure included work across areas such as radar systems, naval and sonar systems, missiles, electronic warfare and tactical communications, as well as support for indigenous defence capabilities and initiatives such as AI incubation centres.

Market reports indicate Raymond’s shares rose nearly 4% on the news, reflecting investor reaction. Raymond’s chairman Gautam Singhania said India’s defence sector is entering a growth and self-reliance phase, creating opportunities for companies with engineering strength. Srivastava said Raymond will pursue technology-led solutions, strategic partnerships and a globally competitive defence business.
