The Supreme Court is set to hear a plea filed by the DMK seeking directions related to witness influence in the Karur stampede case. According to the DMK, leaders associated with the ruling TVK are alleged to influence material witnesses through actions and public statements connected to the case. The DMK’s application specifically mentions alleged conduct by the Chief Minister, including meeting victims’ families and distributing funds, which DMK says could affect witnesses. The plea also refers to public statements made by Minister Aadhav Arjuna, who is described as an accused in relation to the matter, alleging that statements are being made in a way that may bear on witnesses. The Hindu reports that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear the DMK plea aimed at barring TVK leaders from “influencing” material witnesses. Times of India similarly describes the DMK move to seek SC intervention. The incident occurred in September last year and resulted in 41 deaths, according to the reports.
