Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, facing plunder charges tied to alleged P75 million in undeclared campaign donations, remains confined at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital during his booking process, according to police statements. After his arrest, he reports chest pains and high blood pressure, prompting CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico to say he was brought to the hospital for medical assessment. PNP Health Service officials report that Marcoleta undergoes basic medical examinations and blood tests, and that his blood pressure continues to fluctuate. Police say he is conscious and responsive and is not in cardiorespiratory distress at one point during monitoring, though he still requires further evaluation. At different times, PNP reports that his blood pressure reaches unstable readings, including about 140/90 mmHg as of a specific morning assessment, along with occasional chest discomfort. PNP spokesperson PCol. Allen Rae Co says Marcoleta’s medical results are awaited as part of his booking process, and that transfer to the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas is still unlikely pending medical clearance. Officials also indicate that medical findings will be relayed to the Sandiganbayan after the PNP doctors complete their assessment.
