A resurfaced video has renewed public debate around Nigeria’s alleged “ghost agency” controversy involving the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila. In separate reports, outlets say the footage shows Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who is alleged to be the “fake” PFIPC director general, confronting Gbajabiamila and defending his role. Adeyemi, speaking in the context of earlier remarks shared online, also denies ever meeting Gbajabiamila in person.
In the videos and related accounts, Adeyemi argues that PFIPC’s inclusion in the 2026 federal budget raises questions about the integrity of the budget process, noting that the agency allegedly received more than ₦1.3 billion. He points to a multi-stage budget approval pathway and questions how a purportedly fictitious entity could obtain allocations and maintain bank accounts at the Central Bank of Nigeria, including accounts linked to different currencies and structures.
The Presidency rejects the claims and says PFIPC has no legal backing and was never established. It also disputes allegations that appointments or other documents bearing Gbajabiamila’s signature were forged. Adeyemi is reported to face an eight-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja; the next hearing is pending.
