A lioness pins and holds down a villager for about 30 minutes in Garajiya village near Palitana in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, according to multiple reports. The incident, captured on video and widely shared online, shows the lioness keeping the injured man on the ground beside a parked pickup truck while villagers watch from a distance. Some residents shout and throw stones in an apparent attempt to distract the animal, but no one approaches close enough to intervene. The injured man, identified as Kalubhai (Kalu) Parmar of the Maldhari pastoral community, stays still during the attack and appears to keep his posture calm. The lioness later releases him and moves away toward a nearby cattle shelter. After the attack, Parmar is taken to a government hospital in Palitana and then shifted to Bhavnagar for further treatment. Forest officials say he is out of danger and is recovering. Officials also confirm the lioness entered the village after being spotted in the morning and note that Garajiya is within a regular movement corridor for Asiatic lions. An operation is underway to safely capture the lioness, and residents are urged not to chase or harass the animal and instead contact forest personnel.
