Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom plans to resume on-site work at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant starting in mid-July, according to statements relayed by Interfax. Rosatom chief said personnel are expected to return from mid-July as part of the company’s ongoing involvement at the facility. Rosatom is building two additional units at Bushehr. After the escalation of the conflict involving Iran—following an exchange of hostilities that began in late February—Rosatom evacuated hundreds of employees from the plant. A separate report indicates that nearly 200 Rosatom employees were evacuated in April. Al-Monitor notes that, despite the evacuation, Russia pledges to continue helping Iran with its nuclear programme. The reporting does not provide details on the number of staff returning or the specific timeline beyond the mid-July start date.
