Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and police carry out raids across parts of the state to tackle alleged milk adulteration. In Nashik district’s Sinnar taluka, an FDA team raids locations in the Shah area and surrounding villages, including Rampur-Putalewadi. Authorities seize an illegal stock of milk powder worth ₹17,37,529 during a raid on Saturday night (February 4). A case is registered at Wavi Police Station against Prashant Rohidas Kale (23) for allegedly keeping the milk powder without a valid food license or purchase-sale documentation. Officials state the stock is suspected to be linked to adulteration, and further investigations continue under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Separately, in a multi-district operation announced on July 6, the FDA and Pune Rural Police’s Local Crime Branch dismantle an alleged synthetic milk racket. Raids take place at 13 locations across Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Jalna and Thane. Authorities report seizures and destruction of nearly 20,000 litres of suspected synthetic milk, along with adulteration materials and actions against multiple establishments, and register cases against 26 accused, with 13 arrested so far. Officials describe the alleged process as mixing chemicals and other substances to imitate milk, and then blending with genuine milk before distribution. In Pune district, officials also report raids in Manchar and other areas, with allegations of synthetic milk being mixed at specific ratios.
