Shein and Temu are facing off at London’s High Court over alleged copyright violations involving Shein product images. Shein says Temu used thousands of photographs that Shein owns to market and advertise clothing that Shein says amounts to copies of its own-brand items. Shein frames the conduct as “industrial scale” infringement and argues Temu is attempting to “piggy-back” on a more established competitor.
The dispute is part of an ongoing, broader legal and commercial rivalry between the two online fast-fashion retailers. A two-week trial begins in London and centers on Shein’s claims concerning product images. According to one account, Shein’s complaint covers around 2,300 images, and Temu abandons its defence of those specific images. Temu also counters with anti-competition allegations, accusing Shein of using litigation to stifle competition.
The court process focuses on the competing claims of copyright infringement and alleged anti-competitive conduct as both sides present their positions during the trial.
