A Nigerian Federal High Court orders the forfeiture of additional properties linked to former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman to the Federal Government, following his conviction for corruption-related offences. Multiple reports say Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja rules that five more properties should be forfeited after finding that at least one of them, Walijam Apartments in Wuse 2, Abuja, is acquired using proceeds of crime. The ruling also places four other properties under interim forfeiture pending further court steps.
The outlets describe the additional assets as including properties in Kaduna State and Abuja, such as Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited in Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna, and three Abuja properties: two mansions on Misratah Street, Wuse 2; and A.U.A Plaza on Kade Street, Wuse 2. The court directs the EFCC to publish the interim forfeiture order in a national newspaper within a set timeframe so interested parties can appear and show cause.
The forfeiture actions build on earlier orders after Mamman’s conviction on corruption and money laundering charges involving ₦33.8 billion, with reports noting he is also sentenced to 75 years in prison and ordered to refund ₦22 billion traced to him.
