Cosmoserve Space is preparing a demonstration of active space debris removal technology aboard Skyroot Aerospace’s maiden orbital launch, Vikram-1. Multiple outlets report that Cosmoserve’s Mission Embrace will test soft robotic satellite capture in orbit, using Cosmoserve’s capture technology developed for future active debris removal missions.

The demonstration is described as the first in-orbit flight of Cosmoserve’s soft robotic capture approach. Cosmoserve’s technology is designed to engage and capture target objects in space without relying on conventional rigid mechanisms. According to reporting, the company’s system moved from concept to flight-ready hardware within a four-month development cycle, and it is now set for its first operational test during the Vikram-1 mission.

Skyroot’s Vikram-1 launch is positioned as the platform for evaluating the capture system’s performance in real orbital conditions. The demonstration is expected to provide early validation of soft robotic capture methods that could be used in future missions focused on reducing space debris.
