Lynas Rare Earths has signed a partnership with South Korea’s JS Link to develop a rare-earth permanent magnet factory in Malaysia, following an earlier magnet manufacturing agreement between the two companies. Under the new deal, JS Link establishes a magnet factory in Kuantan, Malaysia. Lynas also supplies rare-earth materials for the magnet factory in South Korea and for the planned facility in Malaysia. The agreement runs until January 2038, according to the company. The announcement follows Lynas’ broader focus on expanding downstream rare-earth processing and magnet production, which is used in applications such as motors and other industrial equipment. The partnership structure combines JS Link’s manufacturing role with Lynas’ provision of feed materials, linking the Malaysian project with existing operations in South Korea. Lynas said it has signed the partnership and will continue supplying the required materials through the end date outlined in the agreement.
