Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has opened online applications for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2027 for admission to Class 6 in the 2027–28 academic year. Candidates must submit applications through the NVS admission portal by July 31, 2026. The entrance examination is scheduled for November 28, 2026, and results are expected by the end of March 2027 (some reports also cite March/April 2027). The test is conducted offline as a pen-and-paper OMR-based exam.
Eligibility is tied to age, current schooling, and district of residence. Applicants must be studying in Class 5 during 2026–27 and have completed full academic sessions in Classes 3, 4 and 5 in government/government-aided/government-recognised schools. A district-specific rule requires candidates to apply for admissions within their district of residence. The reported age range for eligibility is May 1, 2015 to July 31, 2017 (inclusive).
The exam pattern includes four sections: Mental Ability Test, Environmental Studies, Arithmetic, and Language. Each correct answer carries 1.25 marks, and there is no negative marking. Divyang candidates get extra time of 40 minutes.
