Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, through his lawyers, issues a threat of a N10 billion defamation suit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi. Multiple outlets report that a letter dated July 6, 2026, signed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kemi Pinheiro for the law firm Pinheiro LP, follows a June 25 press conference where Adeyemi alleged Gbajabiamila was involved in criminal wrongdoing. Adeyemi’s allegations, as described by the reports, include claims that Gbajabiamila demanded a share of the alleged N27.4 billion take-off grant connected to the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), received money through proxies, abused his office, influenced security agencies, and was involved in other improper conduct. Adeyemi also called Gbajabiamila a “murderer” and “assassin.”
Gbajabiamila’s representatives reject the allegations as false and defamatory and demand that Adeyemi retract his claims, apologise publicly, and remove related online content. The ultimatum reported by the outlets is 72 hours, warning that failing to comply could lead to defamation proceedings under FCT law and a civil suit. Adeyemi is also reported to be facing criminal charges at the Federal High Court, Abuja, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 27, 2026.
