The Department of Education (DepEd) in Tacloban is repurposing two classrooms at San Jose National High School where three students were killed during the June 22 campus shooting. DepEd Tacloban Schools Division information officer Nilo Eder says the rooms will no longer be used for regular classes. The change is intended to support learners’ recovery after the incident, particularly classmates of the three fatalities who are still dealing with trauma. Eder also says that if the classrooms are not needed as storage areas, they may be converted into offices. The decision reflects the school division’s effort to adjust campus use while students continue to receive support in the aftermath of the attack. The plan also indicates that classroom space will be reorganized rather than left available for normal day-to-day instruction in the immediate term.
