Hitachi Energy India and Hitachi Energy Technology Services sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government for a ₹1,000-crore expansion of their facilities in and around Chennai. The plans include scaling up operations at Chengalpattu and expanding the companies’ Global Technology and Innovation Centre at Porur, according to multiple reports.
The investment is scheduled to be implemented over about three to five years, with both outlets citing the same overall timeframe for the projects. The expansion is also expected to create 1,000 additional high-skilled technology jobs for skilled professionals. The MoU outlines expansion of manufacturing and technology activities, with Chengalpattu manufacturing operations set to increase and the Porur centre set to be expanded.
While sources describe the investment amount, locations, job creation target, and implementation window, they do not provide further details on project-specific milestones, the number of facilities involved, or the exact breakdown of spending within the ₹1,000 crore.
