Works Minister Dave Umahi dismisses Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi as a political threat ahead of the 2027 election. In interviews aired Tuesday on Arise Television’s “Morning Show,” Umahi says “nobody is scared” of Obi and argues that Obi “cannot even face” him, adding that Obi would not be able to face President Bola Tinubu either. Umahi characterizes Obi’s political campaign as “AI politics,” saying it “put[s] something on nothing.”
He also links his criticism to Obi’s performance as Anambra State governor, saying Obi failed to deliver in key sectors. Umahi claims Obi invested money in a bank while owing contractors and cites what he describes as shortcomings in health and education, including the establishment of education “special centres.” He further alleges Obi did not build enough infrastructure such as roads and airports.
The reports also note that Obi has criticized the federal government on road policy, urging attention to fixing dilapidated roads rather than constructing new ones, but the focus of Umahi’s remarks remains the denial of Obi as a serious threat to Tinubu.
