A quadcopter attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province leaves one person dead and four others injured, police report. The incident occurs in the Bakakhel area of Bannu district, within the jurisdiction of the Baka Khel Police Station. Bannu District Police Officer Muhammad Furqan Bilal says terrorists drop an explosive device from a quadcopter. One person dies on the spot, while four people, including a teenager, are injured and taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Police officials also link the attack to a pattern of attempts against security forces. The reports say anti-drone measures and strengthened security around police stations and checkpoints have recently disrupted or foiled several quadcopter attacks targeting police and security personnel. After these failures, authorities say the attackers allegedly shifted to civilians to spread fear and panic.
In addition, local reports mention a separate incident in the same area where a bridge on the CPEC Circular Road in Saidgi was blown up, disrupting traffic. Separate reporting by one outlet also references a prior quadcopter-related incident in Lower South Waziristan where a family was affected.
