Doctors and hospital staff at KDMC-run Shastrinagar Hospital in Dombivli face allegations of being assaulted by Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre and associates, after an altercation inside the facility. Reports say the incident was captured on CCTV and surfaced widely online. Multiple outlets describe it as occurring in the context of treatment for a pregnant woman, whose case involved a planned lower segment caesarean section and a subsequent need for neonatal intensive care. Since the hospital’s NICU was reportedly full, staff allegedly advised shifting the newborn to another facility. The patient’s relatives were said to contact Mhatre, who later arrived at the hospital with others and confronted medical staff, including a female doctor, a nurse and a visiting gynaecologist.

Following the video’s spread, doctors staged protests and suspended routine services, while emergency care continued. Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar and other leaders condemn the alleged use of physical violence and say action will follow through official channels. Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde condemns the attack, states that the party will not protect those involved, and says strict action will be taken. Police register an FIR; three associates are arrested, while Mhatre is reported as at large as authorities continue their investigation and examine circumstances around his involvement.
