The reports say the two commanders are brought to Maiduguri on the evening of 5 July 2026 and placed in military custody. They undergo profiling, debriefing, and intelligence exploitation as part of the counter-terrorism process.
One outlet adds that the military describes the surrendering men as “Munzirs,” portraying them as influential figures within the terrorist leadership structure, and that preliminary interrogations give information on operational activities, command structure, logistics, and support networks.
