Jigawa State’s Executive Council approves an upward review of the minimum monthly pension paid under the State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme. The minimum pension increases from ₦12,000 to ₦20,000, with the new rate set to take effect on July 1, 2026, according to the State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Support and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmad.

The approval is communicated through a press briefing, where the government indicates that retirees will begin receiving benefits based on the adjusted minimum pension once the implementation date is reached. Premium Times reports that the adjustment is already being implemented, suggesting that eligible retirees are expected to start benefiting from the revised rates promptly across the state.

Both outlets frame the decision as part of a pension scheme adjustment aimed at improving the minimum payout for retirees in Jigawa, while providing a clear timeline for when the higher minimum pension becomes applicable.
